The Tube and Thimble - a Love story
In this video, we share a simple way to inspect thimble chimneys, which are often tricky to access. We use a lightweight four-inch corrugated tube, like those from dust collection systems, and trim our camera sides by about three-quarters of an inch for smoother movement. A flexible piece at the back helps guide it through tight spaces. We insert the camera using the tube, add a second rod for better control, and pull it back safely to avoid cable tangles. Using prefabricated dampers keeps the setup protected. This method makes inspections safer, faster, and far easier to handle.
