Chim-Scan® Internal Chimney Inspection Systems
Prices are listed on each product page
Chim-Scan® is THE chimney inspection camera of choice of professional chimney inspectors; since 1984, we have designed and built chimney camera systems used by chimney sweeps stood the test of time. Our chimney cameras are used in various professional settings such as the chimney sweep inspection trade, the home inspection market, and Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) industry with chimney and duct inspection robotic cameras.
We do all repair work on our systems, and some are 25 years old! We still have many parts and the know-how to keep an older system up and running, plus we can add new technologies to them when possible. Looking for our Chim-Scan® Factory Training Book on chimney inspections or the Flue & Hearth Notes™ Chimney Inspection Notes? Please scroll to the bottom of the page for links.

Our chimney inspection cameras and accessories operate in residential chimney flues sized from 3” vent pipe to 13”x18” fireplace flues. Larger size flues for commercial chimneys can be done with special packages to remotely control the camera's stability, tilt, and 360-degree rotation with cable lengths from 100-300 feet.
Chim-Scan® inspection systems produce High-Definition quality imagery from inside the chimney structure, documenting the chimney's general interior condition or locating where defects may be hiding. Even with strong lights or sunshine, areas are often left unseen. Open voids within the chimney can drastically reduce its ability to operate properly, leaving condensates and by-products escaping inside the chimney. These products can deteriorate the chimney's interior, leading to a costly repair. Therefore, when using the Chim-Scan® inspection camera after chimney sweeping, the camera can provide verification that the chimney flue is free from soot and debris and assures the chimney is in operational readiness to vent the gases and soot properly.
Besides fireplace chimneys, the Chim-Scan® systems can also inspect masonry and prefabricated chimney flues. They are used during chimney inspections and partner well with the Flue and Hearth Notes™ to gather data for Level 1 and Level II inspections.

This illustration represents the method used for internal chimney inspections. The Chim-Scan® Camera is raised up the flue by Kwick-Lock™ Chimney Rods. The chimney technician views the images and videos on the Chim-Scan® Monitor which also includes the controls which provide options such as a tilt view, adjustable lighting and 360 degrees of continuous rotation in a high-definition view.
Chimneys designed to vent wood, coal, pellet, corn burning, gas, and oil appliances can be inspected using the Lighthouse™ Tilt Camera, the smaller Mini-Enviro Camera, or the J3D Camera. Chim-Scan® Chimney Camera Systems can record the conditions of flues after natural disasters such as hurricanes, tornados, lightning strikes, or earthquakes. |
Chim-Scan® Robotic Vision Systems are used for scanning the interiors of gas air ducts. This robotic camera vehicle partners well with cleaning tools for residential and commercial air ducts. Our internal chimney cameras can be added for inspection of the chimney. Longer cables and larger stabilizers are available for commercial chimneys and vents. |

A picture can say a thousand words, but the right picture taken in the right place can be worth thousands of dollars. When information is locked away in not-so-easy spaces such as chimneys, air ducts, or crawl spaces, remote vision can offer a new level of understanding. By embracing new technology your customer can see the interior of their chimney close up on a 7" or 10" monitor. Images and videos can be captured with an SD Recorder or use our Screen Shooter partnered with your cell phone.
When you need to view difficult to access areas or share views with your customer - remote imaging makes it possible. In this age of information, our remote vision systems enhance your company’s capability to: * Document conditions within a structure with images and videos. * Locate areas in need of repair * Verify cleanliness * Operational Readiness * Cause and Origin assessment Or when using it to verify the chimney's ability to contain combustion products, remote vision becomes a vital part of NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) goals. |
Our Chimney Scanning & Inspection Guide and Interior Chimney Scanning books have hundreds of images and charts showing the process of chimney scanning and inspections. There are five installation modules: Masonry Fireplace, Masonry Fireplace Serving an Appliance, Masonry Thimble Chimney Serving an Appliance, Prefabricated Fireplace & Chimney, and Prefabricated Chimney Serving an Appliance.
